Samuel Adjei Jr.

Sammy Adjei Junior is a Ghanaian-American footballer who plays for the New York Red Bulls NPSL side in the United States of America. He is also the senior captain of Iona College Men's Soccer,New Rochelle, NY and will be graduating in 2014.He is primarily a striker, but has also been used as a winger and second-striker.
Club Career
Adjei has played for the New York Red Bulls since 2008, rising in the youth ranks and is regarded as one of the best players to emerge from the academy. In summer of 2009, Adjei had a two month training stint with Sheffield Wednesday in England. In the summer of 2010,Adjei had a training stint with LOSC Lille in France. During that same summer, he had a training stint with Derby County and was offered a contract that could only be put into effect once he received his work permit so Adjei returned to the United States to attend college.
International Career
Adjei has represented the United States at the u-14 and u-18 levels. In October 2011, Adjei expressed his wish to play for his country of birth;Ghana.In June 2012, he was selected to the Ghana national under-20 football team ahead of the qualifying campaign for the 2013 African Youth Championship.
Personal
Adjei Jr comes from a soccer family. He is the only son of former Obuasi Goldfields Captain and Ghana National Team defender Sammy Adjei. His uncle Lawrence Adjei played for Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko as well as Arminia Bielifield and Spartak Moscow. His cousin Edward Kpodo is currently on loan to FC Khimki in Russia from Ghanaian side Tema Youth.
