Leger Holidays Ltd is one of the United Kingdom’s largest escorted coach tour operators with its head office based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
Leger Holidays offers escorted tours including coach, air, rail and cruise holidays and is fully bonded with ABTA.
History
Leger Holidays commenced its tour operations in 1982, headed by the late Alan Henry and assisted by his wife Cynthia offering coach holidays to Austria with local departures through regional newspapers carrying 15,000 holidaymakers in its first year.
Leger has won many travel awards, including the prestigious "Travel Weekly Globe Award".
In 1993 3i PLC invested in Sunway Travel (Coaching) Ltd. (Leger Holidays is a trading company of Sunway Travel (Coaching) Ltd), acquiring a minority stake in the company.
In 2000, Leger Holidays was bought by the MyTravel group.
In December 2002, Ian Henry, who took over following the death of his father, founder Alan Henry, along with the help of his fellow directors and 3i PLC, carried out £22m Management Buyout (MBO) and took back ownership of the company.
Leger Holidays acquired Rotherham travel firm Consort Travel for an undisclosed sum in September 2008.
In January 2015 Leger Holidays acquired battlefield and history tour operator Holts.
Company Overview
Leger Holidays remains a family run company, with the founder's son, Ian Henry, at the helm as CEO.
Leger Holidays' sister company, Leger Air Holidays, holds an , allowing the company to offer air holidays worldwide.
The Company's head office, Sunway House, is located on the Canklow Meadows Industrial Estate, West Bawtry Road, Rotherham, just of junction 33 of the M1 motorway.
In addition to the staff employed by Leger Holidays in Rotherham, the Company employs a small number of staff at Stop 24 Services in Ashford, where it maintains a small office to supervise the coach interchanges.
