Boedeker Plastics, Inc. is a plastic materials distributor and machine shop in Shiner, Texas.
General information
Boedeker Plastics consists of two distinct parts: a stocking wholesale distributor of plastic stock shapes and a plastics-only CNC machine shop.
Boedeker Plastics sells more than 100 different kinds of plastics in "stock shapes," that is, pre-molded sheet, rod, and tube commonly used by machine shops and OEMs to make machined plastic parts. Simply put, they describe themselves as "a lumberyard for plastics."
Boedeker Plastics also has a plastics-only CNC machine shop that makes plastic parts for customers in a wide variety of industries, including oil and gas, semiconductor, medical, aerospace, and equipment manufacturers. The machine shop is made up of CNC mills, lathes, and machining centers of various size and type.
As of January 2007, Boedeker Plastics had 91 employees, most working in Shiner. The company has approximately of buildings, including of warehouse, of machine shop, and the balance is used for office and storage.
Company history
Boedeker Plastics was established in 1984 by Marvin Boedeker and his wife, Cathy Sofka Boedeker. Both were born and raised in Shiner. In the early 1980s, Marvin was branch manager of A-1 Plastics in Houston, Texas. When the Houston branch was sold, Marvin moved back to Shiner and started his own company. Throughout the '80s, the company was relatively small, with fewer than 10 employees.
In 1994, Boedeker Plastics started their own machine shop to produce plastic parts from the molded sheet, rod, and tube sold by the distribution company. The machine shop has expanded and, in January 2007, employed more than 40 people.
