Anton Christodoulou (born May 20, 1972 in London, United Kingdom) is a chief technologist and Internet entrepreneur in the telecoms, new media and technology space. He is best known for his work at British Telecom, where he launched the BT Wholesale ASP platform, BT WhASP, a finalist at the World Communication Awards 2003 and as co-founder of the cnap.me cloud computing platform in 2009, of which he was chief technology officer. Amongst a number of executive technology roles, he is also active in other, non-commercial spheres, as a trustee of the Tiny Tickers charity and working with Birmingham City University to bridge the gap between academia and industry. Early career Anton Christodoulou began a career in the travel and leisure industry for Thomas Cook, creating front and back office applications, training courses and running technology transformation projects, including the implementation of ADS, a business travel accounting back office system owned by American Airlines, and the first in-house implementation of TCP/IP, during the same time period of the beginning of the World Wide Web. Moving into the entertainment industry, joined Buena Vista Home Entertainment, a new division of the Walt Disney Company experiencing rapid growth due to a major video and interactive media release schedule, including The Lion King and Toy Story, implementing the company’s first in-house supply chain management system based on JD Edwards for media distribution in Europe. Joined Seagram to lead a 24/7 IT operations and development concept called "Follow The Sun" managing Seagram's global network through key sites in Europe, Americas and Asia-Pacific, and the European implementation of the first Seagram Intranet. Later career Joined BT during the period of the dot-com bubble in the global finance sector defining and implementing one of the UK's first on-line credit card banking services for Bank One and supporting Visa's transformation from a proprietary SNA global transaction network to TCP/IP. Founder member of Concert, the global joint venture between BT and AT&T. Launched a pan-EMEA business-to-business extranet portal to strengthen Compaq's presence in Europe, and rolled out Visa’s US real-time fraud profiling system, Visa Online, to merchants across Europe. Defined and launched BT WhASP, a BT Wholesale Tier 1 carrier class white-label Application Service Provider platform for telecom operators, mobile operators and service providers; including broadband, unified communications, location based services, participation media, multi-channel video streaming and mobile social media services. Included the integration of Rocking Frog, a BT Adastral Park venture, ontology based self-learning platform, delivering live interactive services via mobile, real-time audience participation, social collaboration, integrated CRM and personalised TV listings with Capital Radio Group, O2, ITV and BT Broadband. Leaving BT, he has held a number of executive and advisory roles in a range of industries and holds a diverse portfolio of business interests, including technology due diligence, corporate strategy, cloud computing, mobile, social media, film and animation. He is a consultant and advisor for a number of specialist IT due diligence, consultancy practices, corporates and start-ups including Oliver Rothschild Corporate Advisors. Previously co-founder and CTO of cnap.me, a cloud delivery platform offering “Your computer on a USB key or mobile phone” a technology start-up born of a vision to provide anyone and everyone with their desktop, data and applications on any device from the 'Cloud' wherever they happen to be globally and irrespective of the quality of Internet access and technology available. In 2010, the company received several accolades, including Best Emerging Technology and Strategic Collaboration and nominations for Knowledge Transfer at the ICT Excellence Awards, for the partnership with Birmingham City University. Speaking Engagements Known for a variety of speaking engagements, most notably on the social and commercial impact of major technology advances, such as the Internet, social media, mobile, high speed broadband and cloud computing. Executive committee member of the Data General User Group (DGUG) and Chairman of the Network and Operating Systems Special Interest Group in the early nineties. Spoke and interviewed regularly on BT product launches and early developments in the mobile space such mobile commerce, apps and content. More recent engagements include keynote speeches for the BT NGA Forum and NextGen on the impact of high speed broadband on the video game industry at the BT Centre Auditorium in London and the impact of cloud computing in Africa, working with African telecoms companies such as Econet Wireless, at the Science Capital event in Birmingham. Mobile Application In March 2011, prior to the Cricket World Cup, he designed and developed (with Ngoar, a mobile development company) the "Cricket Analyst" mobile application in partnership with Simon Hughes, launched on the Apple iPhone/iPad and Google Android devices. Charitable Work Anton Christodoulou has been a trustee of the Tiny Tickers charity since the beginning of 2006.
