Career

By his second year with the company in 1992, Wizelman negotiated a 50/50 partnership agreement with Levine. As United Pacific Mortgage grew, Wizelman, in collaboration with Levine and Steve Kolker, established Mandalay Mortgage in 1998 to complement their success during the height of the real estate boom. The firms reported approximately three billion dollars in annual loan volume and generated sixty million dollars in annual growth revenue.

Housing Crisis and Personal Struggles
With the arrival of the initial stages of the credit crisis, Wizelman closed Mandalay Mortgage in early 2007. In late 2007, United Pacific Mortgage was acquired by Countrywide Mortgage. The credit crisis/mortgage crash that ensued caused Countrywide and the former United Pacific Mortgage to be decimated by the changes in the economy and in the mortgage business. The aftermath left Wizelman with severe depression, stress, anxiety which weakened his immune system.
