Barry B. Benson

Bartholomew Bailey "Barry" Benson is a fictional bee character and the main protagonist of the 2007 film Bee Movie. His home is in a beehive in a tree in New York. He’s the son of Janet and Martin. He’s voiced and created by Jerry Seinfeld.
Appearance and personality
Barry is a honey bee with yellow and black stripes, black hair and blue eyes. He usually wears a pair of black and yellow sneakers and a yellow sweater, which covers up most of his black stripes. Barry is a curious bee. He has the ability to see everything in the outside world.
Biography
College graduate Barry wants to not only follow his dream to be a Pollen Jock, but also see the outside world which is the world of humans. So, he decides to join the Pollen Jocks.
After a human florist named Vanessa Bloome saves him from being squished by her boyfriend Ken (who’s allergic to bees), he talks to her (a bee violation). When he sees honey being sold in the grocery, Barry sues humanity. After Barry wins the case, honey is returned to the bees. However, this results in bees being put out of a job and flowers start to die.

Realizing his mistake, Barry sets out to reverse his actions. He and Vanessa travel to California and take flowers from a parade there so the bees can use them to pollinate the dying flowers. After the flowers are saved and bees and humans are working together again, Barry is now working with Vanessa at her flower shop and is also a member of the Pollen Jocks.
Internet memes
Barry had an unexpected rise in popularity as an Internet meme. His line "Ya like jazz?" has become a popular meme on social media and is his most famous quote. In 2024, during his commencement address at Duke University in North Carolina, he again apologized for the sexual undertones, stating: "I may not have calibrated that perfectly".
