Luca Patakfalvy
Luca Patakfalvy (born 3 December 2000) is a Hungarian taekwondo practitioner. Competing in the 53 kg and 57 kg divisions, Patakfalvy represents the Hungary national team and MTK Budapest. She won the bronze medal in the women's 53 kg event at the 2023 European Games, and bronze medals at the European Taekwondo Championships in 2021 and 2026.
Career
In 2015, Patakfalvy won the gold medal in the 46 kg event at the European Junior Taekwondo Championships held in Daugavpils, Latvia. She defeated Germany's Giuliana Federici in the final to become European junior champion.
In 2016, she won the 46 kg event at the European edition of the WT President's Cup in Bonn. The same year, she won the silver medal in the 46 kg event at the European U21 Taekwondo Championships in Grozny, Russia; she defeated Krystsina Sauluk in the quarter-finals and Kyriaki Kouttouki in the semi-finals, before losing to Regina Sakhautdinova in the final.
In 2018, Patakfalvy began competing at senior level in the 53 kg division. At the European Taekwondo Championships in Kazan, she defeated Sarah Brøndahl Malykke before being eliminated in the quarter-finals by Serbia's Tijana Bogdanović. In 2019, at the World Taekwondo Championships in Manchester, she defeated Rhezie Aragon to reach the round of 16, where she lost to Mexico's Fabiola Guadalupe Villegas Machorro.
In 2021, she won the bronze medal in the women's 53 kg event at the 2021 European Taekwondo Championships held in Sofia, Bulgaria. The same year, she competed in the 57 kg event at the European Olympic Qualification Tournament in Sofia, but lost her opening match to Greece's Fani Tzeli and did not qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.
In 2022, Patakfalvy won the silver medal in the 53 kg event at the Belgian Open. At the 2022 European Taekwondo Championships in Manchester, she competed in the same weight class; she defeated Israel's Noa Preiss in her opening match, before losing to Turkey's Zeliha Ağrıs in the quarter-finals. The same year, she competed in the 57 kg event at the World Taekwondo Grand Prix stages in Rome and Paris. At the European Universities Games, representing Corvinus University of Budapest, she won the gold medal in the 57 kg event after defeating Austria's Lea Violetta Höglinger 2–1 in the final.
In 2023, she competed in the 53 kg event at the 2023 World Taekwondo Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. She defeated Argentina's Carla Ayelén Godoy in her opening match, before losing to Iran's Nahid Kiyanichandeh in the round of 16. At the 2023 European Games held in Krynica-Zdrój, Poland, she won the bronze medal in the women's 53 kg event; European Taekwondo's tournament summary reported that she shared the bronze medal in the weight class with the Czech Republic's Dominika Hronová. The same year, she competed in the 53 kg event at the Summer World University Games in Chengdu.
In 2024, Patakfalvy competed in the 53 kg event at the 2024 European Taekwondo Championships held in Belgrade, Serbia. She defeated Sarah Al Halwani 2–0 in her opening match, before losing 2–1 to Serbia's Andrea Bokan in the quarter-finals and finishing outside the medals. The same year, she won the gold medal in the 57 kg event at the European Universities Games in Miskolc. She defeated Spain's Ainhoa Lorza Gamarra, Italy's Greta Guaita and Poland's Łucja Oleszczuk by 2–0 scores, before beating Spain's Judit Merlos Ordóñez 2–1 in the final to become champion.
In 2025, she won the silver medal in the 57 kg event at the World Military Martial Arts Championships in Warendorf. She defeated Cyprus's Anna Maria Antoniou and Germany's Roja Rezaie 2–0 to reach the final, where she lost to France's Kanelya Carabin and finished second. The same year, at the World University Games in Essen, she competed in the 57 kg event; she defeated Leyla Bashirova 2–0, before losing 2–1 to Mariya Sevostyanova in the round of 16. At the 2025 World Taekwondo Championships in Wuxi, China, she defeated Pheline Rosin 2–0 in the 57 kg event, before losing 2–1 to Mariya Sevostyanova in the next round.
In 2026, Patakfalvy won the bronze medal in the women's 57 kg event at the 2026 European Taekwondo Championships held in Munich, Germany. In the round of 16, she defeated Refugee Team athlete Ayda Khorshidi 2–0. In the quarter-finals, she defeated top seed Kanelya Carabin of France 2–0 to reach the semi-finals. She lost 2–1 to Croatia's Nika Karabatić in the semi-finals, winning her second European Championships bronze medal after 2021.
