Vasile Chirtoca

Chirtoca Vasile - (born on September 20, 1958 in Ghidirim village, Cotovsc district, Odessa Oblast) is a Moldovan businessman, he is a member of the Council of the National Confederation of Employers of the Republic of Moldova, and a philanthropist. He is in the top ten most successful businessmen of Moldova in 2013.
Biography
Vasile Chirtoca was born on September 20, 1958 in Ghidirim village, Cotovsc district, Odessa region, in a family of teachers. After graduating from the Odessa National Polytechnic University (1979), he began his career at the Chisinau All-Union State Design Institute. He was promoted from engineer to chief engineer, group leader, chief project engineer and director of the Chisinau branch of the Novosibirsk State Project Institute (October, 1989 - April, 1992). In the early 1990s, he participated at the creation of the stock market in the Republic of Moldova, his name is among the founders of the Stock Exchange of Moldova.
Chirtoca is a member of the Council of the National Confederation of Employers of the Republic of Moldova and has been awarded the "Order of Labour Glory" and the "Order of Stefan cel Mare".
Married: wife Valentina, sons Alexei and Vladislav.
Activities
Business activities
In 1992 V. Chirtoca became one of the founders of the joint stock company POLIPROIECT. In 1994 he became Managing director of DAAC Invest, the first financial services company in Moldova, holding number 1 license for the right to work in the securities market of the country. In the same year he created the joint stock company DAAC-Hermes. During the period of mass privatization in the Republic of Moldova, he created the privatization investment fund DAAC-Hermes, that later became the largest financial and industrial group in the country. The companies managed by Vasile Chirtoca formed a financial-industrial group consisting of 40 economic agents with a common development strategy. They work in various sectors of the Moldovan economy, such as: engineering, repair and maintenance of agricultural machinery, storage and processing of grain, consumer services, trade in cars and bikes, information technology and others. The Company turnover in 2012 constitutes more than US$100 million, with more than 2000 new jobs.
Sport activity
V. Chirtoca is master of sports in boxing. Since 1993 he is the permanent President of Moldova Boxing Federation. He guided the training of such great fighters as the winners of the Olympic Games and the European Championships: Octavian Ticu, Vitalie Grusac, Veaceslav Gojan, Timofei Screabin, Igor Samoilenco and others.
Philanthropy
Over the years, the DAAC group enterprises also carried out active charity and sponsorship activities. The Festival "Maria Biesu" and the festival of young performers "Steaua Chisinaului", restoration of monuments of religion, culture and the arts, financial support for large families, boarding schools and nursing homes, youth and sports organizations, providing youth centres with book collections are the main activities benefiting from the financial support of the company.
