Type2error is a video and animation production company comprising Matt Simmonds and Ed Emmerson, graduates of Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication in Kent, England. They have produced videos and animated live shows for numerous musicians in England and Europe. History Simmonds and Emmerson made their first promo, a seven-minute animation for "Black Dollar Bills" by British rock band Hope Of The States. They toured the UK, Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan and Australia with Hope Of The States throughout the first two years of their career playing their custom live projections on stage with the band. They joined London based production company Godman in November 2003. Before leaving in May 2006, they worked on twenty three music videos for clients such as Sony BMG, EMI, Polydor and V2 Records. The company made a series of animated virals for TBWA Dublin which won a gold SHARK at the Irish Advertising Awards in 2005. They also made an animated TV commercial for DDB London . They made the title sequences for BBC 2 comedy series Look Around You as well as a handful of private short films. Siimonds and Emmerson were shortlisted for best new director at the 2003 CAD awards and nominated for best director the following year. In January 2005, they featured as part of the Halloween Short Film Festival at the ICA in London, presenting a 60-minute retrospective of their promos, short films and other self-initiated projects to two sell-out cinema showings; they also curated the live music that night. They were guests at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in August 2005 where they played a live audio-visual show as headline artists on the Cabaret Stage. After leaving Godman they started working with the recently opened UK offices of American production company, Crossroads Films. The company has worked on a selection of record sleeves and other graphic design projects since starting Type2error. Clients include Sony BMG, EMI, Paul Smith, Heavenly Records, Specialten Magazine, Rough Trade Records, Fierce Panda Records and V2 Records.
