The Thau Claw is a firefighting hand tool that is designed for fire line construction (clearing fuels to create a fire break), hot spotting or mopping up (raking hot ashes out to ensure the fire doesn't start back up), trail building (building new or improving existing hiking trails), and structure fire overhaul (pulling burned materials out of a structure). Matt Thau, a firefighter, invented the Thau Claw in 2002, when Fire Tool was founded.
The Thau Claw can be used for cutting, trenching, scraping, and raking. It meets all USDA Forest Service specifications that the McLeod fire rake does.
