United States Forest Service Architecture Group

The United States Forest Service Architecture Group, a historic department within the United States Forest Service, has cumulatively designed many fire lookout stations and other structures. The Forest Service itself has built many of these structures. Many of these are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
The Architecture Group of the Forest Service's Northwest regional office included architects Linn A. Forrest, Howard L. Gifford, James Pollock and , and landscape architect Emmett U. Blanchfield. Some of these architects are otherwise notable. For example, Linn A. Forrest, Sr., is the architect of record of the Oregon State Forester's Office Building, at 2600 State St. in Salem, Oregon, which is also NRHP-listed. And Howard Gifford is likewise the architect of Laurelhurst Manor Apartments, 3100 S.E. Ankeny St., Portland, Oregon, also NRHP-listed.<ref namenris/> Tim Turner is the architect of Silcox Hut and Timberline Lodge, both also NRHP-listed.<ref namenris/>
