Syeikh Mahmud Al-Majzub

Syeikh Mahmud Al-Majzub (27 Jamadil Akhir 1362 Hijra/8th July 1943 - Present) is the founder and Sufi Master of Ahmadiah-Qodariah Sufi Order. He is also the founder of Madrasah Nurul Iman based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Syeikh Mahmud was born in Kedah, Malaysia.
Early Life
Syeikh Mahmud was born on Tuesday 27 Jamadil Akhir 1362 Hijra/ 8th July 1943 in Kedah, Malaysia. His paternal lineage can be traced back to Royal Warrior of Legeh of Southern Pattani, Thailand. While his maternal ancestors were descendants of King of Laos who had migrated to Kedah, Malaysia.
His father, Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ismail was a village chief who also taught fundamentals of Islam in his village. In 1942 Haji Abdul Rahman married Syeikh Mahmud's mother, Hajjah Puteh binti Haji Itam. Both of Syeikh Mahmud parents were the village's religious teacher.
Syeikh Mahmud was raised in the village of Kampong Selarong Panjang, Alor Setar, Kedah. He was brought up by his paternal grandfather, Haji Ismail bin Haji Idris. Haji Ismail was a Sufi scholar belonged to the Ahmadiah Sufi Order. Thus he introduced Syeikh Mahmud with knowledge of Sufism from the tender age if 3.
Haji Ismail trained Syeikh Mahmud to adopt the habits of religious people, such as wearing white taqiyah (kufi) and the shaving of the head. Haji Ismail always wish his grandson would someday become a man of religion. In 1953, Syeikh Mahmud's grandfather passed away at the age of 69, Syeikh Mahmud was only 10 years old at the time of passing.
