Subedar Mishra

Pt. Subedar Mishra (1924−2013) was a Governor-awarded (U.P) mathematician and freedom fighter (participated in 1942 movement of Bharat Choro Andolan and was shot by a British S.P. and was in jail for the same reason), Principal of Government Queens Inter college Varanasi and ex-member of U.P. Board and follower of the Indian National Congress.
Early life
He was born on 24 July 1924 in a typical former family of Jaunpur (Kerakat Tehsil) and he struggled towards his education and maintaining pace. After so long a struggle with his daily life, he got admission into Central Hindu school Varanasi (Part of B.H.U). He believed in discipline and throughout his life he followed the same and lived his entire life with such a purification and followed the rule of Brahaman and used to do worship Sandhyopasana from the age of 8.
Freedom movement
During his school time, he was motivated with Gandhi ji's view of ahinsha, but later, after facing a lot of critical conditions and behavior of British rule, he left his study and participated with his mates for complete "swaraj". While going towards Jaunpur tehsil for raising the Indian flag, the British S.P. shot him and after few days in a hospital, he spent time in jail and after that participated various movements with Pt. Kamla pati Tripathi.
Education
Pt. Jii was a meritorious student, he used to always gain first rank till his PG. He has a B.Sc. in Science and then B.Ed and M.A in Psychology from Banaras Hindu University Varanasi.
Career
After Completing his education, he joined as a Mathematics Teacher in Ghazipur City School. In 1972 he transferred to Queens College Varanasi and was there till retirement and retired as a principal.
Awards and honours
Pandit jii got various awards but used to say often my greatest award is my students. He got highest education award by the governor of Uttar Pradesh in 1974. Pandit jii got Bhojpuri Ratna by Shri Akhilesh Yadav. He was truly a "Kashi Ratna".
Books and publication
He was member of Madhyamik Sikhasha Parishad, U.P from 1974 till his end of life and was on expert panel of U.P. Board Expert Panel Exam. He has written a book of Mathematics which was the only book for U.P. Board from 1974 to 2000.
Social activity
He was Member of Charitable Trust of Jeevandeep Group of Education Varanasi, Member of Charitable Trust of Sudhaker Mahila Institution Varanasi, President of Queens College Parents Welfare Association Varanasi.
Death
On 27 August 2013, Pandit ji died in Varanasi city at his house in Dhupchandi.
