Krishna G. Naik

Krishna G. Naik (1932 - September 2007) was the founder principal of Gokhale Centenary College, Ankola affiliated to the Karnataka University, Dharwar for over two decades and the secretary of the Kanara welfare trust the trust of the college.
Early life
Born and raised in Hanehalli village, he completed his high school diploma in the year 1950 from the A. H. School a school from his village. He received his B.Sc. (1955) and M.Sc. (1957) in Mathematics from Karnatak College, Dharwar of the Karnataka University, Dharwar.
Career
Naik started his career as a lecturer in mathematics at Kabbur Institute of Engineering, Dharwad and later as head of the department of mathematics at Karnataka College Dharwar prior to joining G. C. College, Ankola in the year 1966. Later in the year 1980, Naik was shortlisted for the position Vice Chancellor at the Karnataka University, Dharwar .
K. G. Naik served as the founder principal of G. C. College, Ankola for 24 years. He implemented Dinakara Desai’s plan of establishing the college in Ankola region the region of backward people of the district North Kanara . Academic reforms he brought about in the college during his tenure as principal are remarkable. K. G. Naik's constant efforts helped shape the college and transformed it into one of the best institutions in the Uttar Kannada district. Dom Moraes a well known writer, and a columnist in his book Open Eyes Journey through Karnataka credited Naik for his leadership and called Gokhale Centenary College as the flagship of Kanara Welfare Trust .
Naik also took part in various community services (committees) in and around of Ankola including Dinakara Desai Pratisthan, Karnataka Sangh, Nudijenu Dashmanotsava Samiti and the Karnataka Rajya Vijnan Parishat of the Uttar Kannada district. He was a member of the advisory committee of All India Radio in Dharwad.
