R Shankar Raman

Ramamurthi Shankar Raman (born 12 October 1958) is the chief financial officer of Larsen & Toubro. He took over the reins from Mr. Y.M. Deosthalee on September 2011. R Shankar Raman is also on the board of L&T Finance, Mindtree, L&T Infrastructure Development Projects Ltd, L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad Ltd and L&T Realty Ltd.
Early life
Shankar Raman did his schooling at Padma Seshadri, Chennai. He was interested in cricket in his school years and played for Tamil Nadu at the sub-junior level as an all rounder.
He pursued commerce from the University of Madras. He is also a Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and a Cost Accountant from Institute Cost & Works Accountant.
Career
R Shankar Raman joined the L&T Group in November 1994 to set up L&T Finance Limited. Before joining L&T Group, he has worked with Best & Crompton and Lloyds Finance.
He is a part of the Kotak Committed constituted in 2017 by the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) for corporate insolvency resolution and liquidation.
Awards
In 2021, he received the Lifetime achievement Award at the Financial Express CFO Awards
In 2019, he received the Dalal Street Invement Journal's 2019 CFO Award in Infrastructure (Large Cap) category.
In 2013, he received the Business Today Best CFO Award in the Consistent Liquidity Management (Large) Category.
In 2012, Mr. Shankar Raman won the "Best CFO Award" amongst the Asian Infrastructure companies in a poll conducted by Institutional Investor Magazine for the sell side analysts.
Personal life
He plays badminton every week and also runs the marathon. He reads Wodehouse and is a big Lata Mangeshkar fan.<ref name=":0" />
