Peter Kempster

Peter W Kempster (born 1964) (Commander) is a senior officer in the Royal New Zealand Navy.
Early life
Kempster spent his childhood in Auckland and received his secondary education at from 1976 to 1982. He played Rugby for the school and was selected to represent Auckland in school-age competitions. He was a member of the St Peter's College First XV 1980-1982 and was vice-captain in 1982. He also represented the college in Softball in the same years and was captain of the First IX in 1982. He represented the school in other sports and was House Captain of .
Career
Kempster joined the Royal New Zealand Navy in 1983. He was NZDF National Liaison Officer to Bahrain in 2004 on the staff of the Commander US Fifth Fleet Staff. He was Commanding Officer and last captain of ' 2004-2005, before she was decommissioned. Kempster was Inspector General of the Royal New Zealand Navy 2006-2009 and is at present Director Development, Headquarters Integrated Area Defence System (HQIADS) (i.e. he is the senior NZ military officer at the RMAF Base, Butterworth, Penang, Malaysia for the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) a political agreement between the nations of Australia, Malaysia, NZ, Singapore and the UK (2009-present)).
