Michael Voith

Lieutenant Colonel Michael R. Voith (born during 1961 in Calgary, Alberta) is currently the engineering adviser and the commanding officer.
Career
Michael R. Voith attended Collège militaire royal de Saint-Jean from 1979 to 1981, and the Royal Military College of Canada from 1981-1983. He graduated with a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering.
Voith's career began soon after his schooling. He was first posted to a combat engineer regiment for seven years. In 1987, Voith was deployed to Cyprus with the Third Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment as the contingent engineer officer. Later that year, he was posted to 8 Field Engineer Regiment in Edmonton as the Regular Support Staff Officer. In 1989, Voith was posted to 1 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters in Calgary where he served for three years.
While serving in the headquarters, he held the positions of G3 Plans and G1. In 1992, he was appointed the Deputy Commanding Officer of 4 Engineer Support Regiment at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown.
Voith was subsequently posted to Land Force Command Headquarters in St Hubert in 1993 as G1 Personnel Policy 2. In January 1995, he was assigned for one year to the former Yugoslavia as the Force Engineer Operations Officer in the United Nations Peace Forces Headquarters. He returned to the Senior Staff Officer Field Engineer Section in Land Force Command Headquarters in January 1996. In August 1996, Voith was posted to the Director of Army Doctrine. In 1999, he was appointed Commanding Officer and Director of Administration of Land Force Doctrine and Training System Headquarters.
From 2000 to 2002, Voith commanded 4 Engineer Support Regiment at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown. During his time in command, he deployed his regiment to Eritrea/Ethiopia as part of Operation Eclipse responsible for the engineer aspects of theatre activation and mission closeout.
Lieutenant-Colonel Voith is currently the Engineer Advisor in the Canadian Joint Force Headquarters and Commanding Officer of the Disaster Assistance Response Team at Canadian Forces Base Kingston. He commanded the Theatre Activation Team for Operation HALO in Haiti in 2004 and was the Commander of Task Force Colombo and Commanding Officer of the Disaster Assistance Response Team following the Tsunami disaster in Sri Lanka in Dec 2004. LCol Voith also the Commander for Task Force Plateau and Commanding Officer of the Disaster Assistance Response Team following the earthquake in Pakistan in October 2005.
In Oct 2006 Lieutenant-Colonel Voith was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada for the outstanding professionalism and leadership that he demonstrated during two deployments of the Disaster Assistance Response Team.
Lieutenant-Colonel Voith is a graduate of the Canadian Land Force Command and Staff Course and the Canadian Forces Command and Staff Course. He holds a Master of Arts in Defence Management and Policy and a Master of Defence Studies both from the Royal Military College of Canada. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta.
