Sean Black

Sean Black (born 1978) was an Australian local government politician from 2008-2012. He spent some of his childhood in Auckland, New Zealand and was educated at . He finished his schooling in Brisbane, Australia, where he was born. He was a member of the Logan City Council from 2008 to 2012.
As a local councillor, Black took some controversial positions. In exercising his opposition to gambling he was instrumental in stopping a hotel from offering a "Casino Cash Lunch" deal, which gave away $3 in "casino cash" to visitors who purchased a meal from the venue's bistro. Black claimed the hotel was in clear breach of the Queensland Responsible Gambling Code of Practice, which prohibited the "offering of free money or credit for the purpose of gambling" and the Royal Hotel in Beenleigh was referred to the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing by the Treasurer of Queensland, Andrew Fraser, for investigation. Black, as a member of the Australian Monarchist League, is an active proponent of Australia's existing constitutional arrangements.
Black was banned from having direct contact with council staff after bullying allegations and faced restrictions in council buildings where staff were present and attended council meetings subject to security arrangements. Black maintained that the ban was politically motivated because of his outspoken advocacy for his community and limited government, especially considering an independent review panel found the only punishment he should be issued was a written reprimand for yelling at staff.
Black was married to Councillor Hajnal Black who as Hajnal Ban underwent $A40,000 leg surgery in Russia in 2001 to stretch her petite frame by eight centimetres. After Hajnal Black was convicted and fined for failing to properly disclose her assets as a local electoral candidate in 2012, they were divorced. Black now resides in Dubai, where he is a prominent real estate agent, returning to the career he had prior to being elected to Logan City Council.
