Naveed Zaidi

Dr. Naveed Zaidi is an organic chemist who, working at University of Durham with colleagues, developed the world's first workable plastic magnet at room temperature.
Biography
Zaidi graduated and received his PhD in Organic Chemistry, under the supervision of Prof Brian Marples, from Loughborough University in 1990. He then worked and carried out his research at Durham University's Chemistry Department with his mentor Dr David O'Hagan, working on several projects leading to polymer science. In 1997, he then start working with noted chemical scientist Dr. James Feast in polyamide research. After spending a year on the joint project between polymer chemist Dr. Martin Bryce and polymer physicist Dr. Graham Cross on the optoelectronic materials.
Zaidi joined Andy Monkman's OEM group in 1999, and currently leading the way into preparing high molecular weight polyaniline at low temperature and also investigating into a better dopant than the one in use at present.
