Karen Bartelt is an associate professor of chemistry at Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois. She married Bob Bartelt in 1972 and they have two adult children. In 1971 she received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison then a Master of Science degree in 1975 from Drexel University and completed a Ph.D in 1988 from Montana State University in Organic Chemistry. Bartelt is a prominent critic of creationism and intelligent design.
