N.Subbalakshmi

Kunnakudi Subbalakshmi(April 24, 1931-March 21, 2010) was a vocal singer and the elder sister of Eminent violinist Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan.
Early life
She was born to Sri Rama Swamy Sashtri and Smt.Meenakshi at Kunnakudi, a temple town of Lord Murugan in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Her father was an erudite scholar in Sanskrit. Kunnakudi Subbalakshmi together with her sister Kunnakudi Sundaralakshmi started learning South Indian classical music from their guru Sri Ramaswamy Sastri.
Career
At the Early age of 9 she started performing her concerts accompanied by Sudaralakshmi and Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan.Sundaralakshmi died at an early Age .She started giving solo concerts.She was married at the age of 19 to S.C.Natesan. He was transferred to Delhi and there she gave a concert at The All India Radio. From here she started her Associations with All India Radio and performed in Delhi,Hyderabad and Chennai, and Started Giving concerts at Tyagaraja Aradhana at Thiruvayaru. She took Music classes to render Her Knowledge to them.She Knew More than 2500 keerthanas written by Tyagaraja.
Awards
She was Awarded the Kalaimamani Award By the Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 2006.
Death
Subbalakshmi Died at 2:10 AM on March 21, 2010 at a Hospital in Hyderabad.
