Cody Carnes

Cody Carnes (Born Jay cody Carnes; March 25, 1989) Is an aspiring worship artist and songwriter currently living in Bedford, Texas. His one true passion is God and serving him only.
Early life
Cody was born in March 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia to parents Lisa and Calvin. He started music off at a young age. He hit his first drum at age two and from there he learned from his father who was in a local georgian band. At age three his parents split up and his mother moved back to her home town in Big Spring, Texas. Soon after Lisa started dating Jerry Jon Currie of Big Spring two years later at age five Lisa had her second of two children, William jon Currie. Cody stated in later years,"me and this kid are inseparable." Cody was also the the one to teach will how to throw a football. At age eight Cody took up guitar and taught himself with the help of his father. In High School, Cody attended Big Spring High and was an active member on the Drumline and BSHS journalism. His senior year he got into theatre and won State at the Texas ITS competition with a duo act featuring Nick Ross portraying a scene from the Pillow man. The acting troupe went as far as area in the One Act play competition with Cody and Nick as the lead roles in Rosencrants and Guildenstern are Dead, a Tom Stoppard play in One act.
Crimson Soul
Through out Cody's senior year he was in a southern rock group named Hit the ground running who were winners of the Knockout: Battle of the Bands Competition Sponsored by Scars entertainment. Their award was a spot on the Rock the Desert lineup in Midland, Texas. They shared the stage with Disciple, Family force 5, Switchfoot, and Chris Tomlin. At a local July 4 festival, they played opened for a befriended group named Crimson Soul. HTGR was planning on going to south plains community college in levelland, Texas to room with each other and land a record deal. That night Crimson soul invited everyone to hang out with them at Beans world cafe, a coffee shop and venue, to catch up on things. That night there were only old friends of Crimson Soul to hear the news of bass player Burk Atkersen quitting the group to go into ministry. Cody had been having doubts about HTGR and the life they were headed into. He decided the very same night within a few hours of Burks decision to quit his current group and tryout for Crimson Soul. Cody successfully nailed the audition and become Crimson Soul's official Bass player. The group toured the East coast and shared the stage with Grammy award winning artist John Rich. They settled in Denton, Texas and play from July 4, 2007 - September 21, 2008 which the official date they decided to part their own ways and end the group.
Cody Carnes Music
Cody moved back to Big Spring shortly after the breakup. He played for local church Family Faith Victory Center and was a greeter for Cowboys Steakhouse. In January 2009 Cody moved to Bedford, Texas to pursue a musical career in Praise and Worship. He frequently drove back to Big Spring to record his first EP labeled The Kingdom Come EP. He applied to be on the worship team for Corporate church Gateway in South lake, Texas. The Release of his Ep was March 21, 2009 at Life Church in Big Spring, Texas. He is currently pursuing a record deal and playing at Gate way in North Richland Hills, Texas.
