Michael A. Amos

Michael A. Amos was (born March 29th, 1983) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, is an author and actor. His first book, Both Sides of the Fence: Surviving the Trap was recognized with the Award of Merit.
Early life
Amos was born to parents Donna Amos, a day care teacher, and Christopher D. Amos, a mechanical rail car mechanic and part-time stunt work actor. He grew up in the notorious Driftwood Court townhouse complex of the Jane and Finch neighbourhood in a single parent household as the youngest of three. He has an older sister Shevon, and older brother Christopher. He also has a younger half sister Christine.
His father’s side of the family boasts three Olympians, Michael being the great nephew of Charles Amos, who competed for Guyana at the 1968 Summer Olympics in the middleweight division, is the second-cousin of Troy Amos-Ross, two-time Canadian Olympian, and nephew of the 1988 Canadian Olympic Silver Medalist and 1992 NABF Light Heavyweight Champion, Egerton Marcus.
Michael attended Chaminade College School, an all boys Catholic high school in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with the likes of professional basketball player Olu Famutimi, professional soccer player Miguel Cañizalez, and graduated in the same 2001 class with the current N.H.L. captain of the Calgary Flames, Mark Giordano.
Michael A. Amos was a member of the Chaminade College School 2001 OFSAA Bronze Medalist 4x400 m Track team, solidifying several US scholarship offers. He then went on to compete in N.A.I.A. Track and Field circuit in the state of Indiana, USA.
Writing
On October 13th, 2015 at the 41st Annual Toronto Heritage Awards and Kilbourn Lecture, Michael’s first book, Both Sides of the Fence: Surviving the Trap, a memoir that takes the reader on a journey through the mentality of the protagonist, Michael A. Amos, who grew up thrust into Toronto’s notorious Driftwood Court neighbourhood in the Jane Street and Finch Avenue West area, in a single parent house-hold was recognized by with the Award of Merit.
Acting
In numerous interviews Michael has credited his father Christopher D. Amos, who is mainly known for his stunt work on the Canadian television series, T. and T., Mimic (film), Cinderella Man, and Bulletproof Monk for sparking his love for acting.
He started his acting career in 2004 at the encouragement of his father to Charles S. Dutton, landing a small montage role in the feature film, Against the Ropes, a drama movie, starring Meg Ryan, Omar Epps, Kerry Washington, which was also directed by Charles S. Dutton in his motion-picture directorial debut.
He is also appeared in Redemption: The Stan ‘Tookie’ Williams Story (2004) starring Jamie and directed by Vondie Curtis-Hall and as lead role in the romantic comedy Unusual Circumstances (2015).
