Uma Jama

Faduma Uma Jama (, ), shortened to Uma Jama, is a Somali-Canadian actress and youth facilitator.
Personal life
Jama grew up in Ottawa, Canada.
She attended a local high school.
Jama speaks fluent Somali and English. She currently resides in Calgary. She starred the following year in Zalman King's Showtime series Body Language, appearing in an episode titled "Stormy Weather". Jama had various cinematic roles in the ensuing years, including a part in the 2011 movie "Devil's Candy" written and directed by Tasha Waldron.
Besides acting, Jama serves as a Youth Facilitator at the Centre for Newcomers Society of Calgary. She works closely in this capacity with Somali youngsters through civic engagement, mentorship and volunteerism.
Awards
In 2013, Jama was nominated for a People's Choice Award for Actor/Actress at the Obsidian Awards. She was also nominated in 2014 for Best Actress in a Supporting Role/Diaspora Film for Go Fish at the NAFCA Awards.
