Young Deuce

Young Deuce is a popular Canadian hip hop group that hails from Toronto (Tha Deuce City), Ontario, Canada that is among the pioneering ranks of hip hop artist such as Maestro Fresh Wes, Dream Warriors, Kardinal Offishall, Saukrates, and Rich London. Bringing the harsh realities of street life similar to that of the U.S. from north of the border to international audiences world wide, Young Deuce transcends the false stereotypes of this country.

Young Deuce consists of two rappers, La'ron Sparxx and Tha Docc aka Cairacalla (both born in Toronto), who hail from one of Canada's most infamous housing projects, The Jane and Finch area. This area is also known to have produced such talented individual's as Denham Brown, Olu Famutimi, and Jully Black.

Band history
Growing up together in Toronto (The Deuce City), Canada's infamous Jane and Finch housing projects, La'ron Sparxx and Tha Docc frequently freestyled for each other during their high school years. Originally beginning as solo artists, fans of both individuals frequently craved the songs that featured each other as opposed to solo works. As a resultant, and seemingly natural progression of artist talent, Young Deuce was started in late 1999 by both La'ron Sparxx and Tha Docc. Young Deuce is considered to one of Canada's premier rap groups. Young Deuce was signed to the indie label Ghetto2Ghetto Entertainment in 2002.

Television and films
In 2004, Tha Docc made his movie debut in the feature film Against the Ropes, a fictionalized account of the American boxing manager Jackie Kallen, who was the first woman to become a success in the sport. Directed by Charles S. Dutton, Tha Docc appeared as a montage opponent fighter alongside veteran actors Omar Epps and Meg Ryan. Later in 2004, The Docc also landed a role as a gang member in the movie Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story (2004), a TV-movie starring Jamie Foxx, Lynn Whitfield, Lee Thompson Young and directed by Vondie Curtis-Hall. This film touches on the life of Stanley Tookie Williams, a founding member of the Crips street gang, principally on his life in the streets and his life in prison. It also shows some of the work he did while incarcerated to help decrease gang violence in the world. The film was shot in 2004 while Williams was still imprisoned. On December 13, 2005, Williams was executed by lethal injection in California. This film was released via the FX cable network on television and went on to become a successful venture for the network. Currently, Tha Docc is working on obtaining more substantial roles to compliment his career in the entertainment industry.
