Matt Kohler

Matthew Robert "Matt" Kohler (born January 12, 1979) is an American actor who has starred in several film and television productions including Captain America: The First Avenger, Ocean's Thirteen, Nip/Tuck and Betty White's Off Their Rockers. Born and raised in Port Washington, Wisconsin, approximately 25 miles north of Milwaukee aside Lake Michigan. He has a twin brother, James Michael Kohler, who is a fitness model and the 2007 Mr. Natural California.
Early life
Prior to his acting career he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from California State University, Channel Islands. He followed his entrepreneurial spirit by creating and opening a tanning salon in 2003 named Baja Tan located in Fox Point, Wisconsin. During this time he modeled as a fashion, commercial and fitness model. Most notably working with photographer Mario Testino for VMAN magazine. Matt began his acting career with the desire to move and inspire people through his work, so he studied acting rigorously.
Career
He recently launched his own production company, Silver Hero Entertainment, and is producing and developing several projects. His first being a live-action trailer for Captain Planet and the Planeteers in which he played Captain Planet and Captain Pollution. The trailer went viral, being featured and reviewed on over 100 websites, Entertainment Weekly stated "Given the choice between a studio remake and this quasi-gritty indie take, I’d go with the latter.” Sony Pictures took notice of the trailer and is developing a Captain Planet and the Planeteers feature length film.
Kohler wrote, directed, produced and starred in a short film titled Typecast. He plays the lead, Blake, an actor that strives to break free of his “type” to play more interesting roles that move and inspire others. Typecast is a short film (approx. 24 min) that aims to be a major film festival selection. It was shot on the RED Epic with a visual style and tone similar to Silver Linings Playbook. Although it takes place in the entertainment industry, many will relate to the subject matter and overall message of the film. Matt was inspired to write Typecast after he saw Vin Diesel's short film Multi-Facial.
Upcoming films
Kohler will produce and star in the feature film titled Stripped. Stripping to settle her late father’s debt, a young woman tries to balance her feelings for the head bouncer of the strip club, who devises a plan to rob the club on its busiest and most profitable night. Matt will play the lead Mike "Sep" Sepowitz, the ex-football star turned head bouncer of the club. Stripped is a highly stylized neo-noir crime thriller in the narrative vein of and visually similar to .
Matt will produce and star in a thriller film titled Hackathon, a whodunit horror/thriller. It misleads the audience at first - the film starts off as an upbeat, fast-paced ensemble dramedy about a group of intelligent Silicon Valley programmer types trying to come up with the next “big idea” - then quickly takes a violent turn towards the horror genre when things go horribly wrong and people start dying/disappearing… hence the double meaning of the title. Matt will play MK, a trust fund capitalist, best described as a Winklevoss twins type.
Kohler's production company, Silver Hero Entertainment, has been hired to produce the feature film titled Social Norm. A coming of age comedy that deals with the current twentysomething dilemma of career and relationships. Matt will also star as Morgan, the successful business owner of a financial firm.
Silver Hero Entertainment is in Pre-production for a new comedic action series titled Jacked. Matt will star as Jack Pullman, an outside salesman with everyday problems that transforms into "The Pulk" in common stressful situations. "The Pulk" will be played by his twin brother James Kohler. The Kohler brothers wrote the series. Matt will also produce and direct.
His latest project announced is titled Gold, a sports drama that centers around freestyle wrestling leading to the 2016 Summer Olympics. The film deals with the recent announcement that both greco-roman wrestling and freestyle wrestling will no longer be competing sports at the Olympic Games after 2016. There has been much controversy with the announcement as wrestling as been included since the Ancient Olympic Games. Kohler wrote the script and also plans on starring in the film. After the death of his younger brother, an aging freestyle wrestler begins an impossible task to bring home gold in his place.
