Linklint is an open-source Perl program that finds and lists broken hyperlinks. It can check both links within a website and links between websites. By periodically running Linklint on a website, the webmaster can ensure that all links on the site, both external and internal, are still valid. Since the web is a dynamic environment, constantly being edited, links frequently break. On even a small website, checking all of the links manually is laborious and boring, so it is rarely done. This tool automates the checking, allowing it to be done frequently. Maintaining links makes a website more interesting and useable, and improves the search ranking of the site. This is a command-line script, and unlike Xenu's Link Sleuth will run on at least Linux, Mac, and Microsoft systems. It is easily invoked, and runs quickly.
