Robson Campus, Vancouver B.C.

KGIC's flagship Robson Campus is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. It is KGIC's largest campus, with over 30 classrooms, a computer lab, 35 teachers and over 400 students. KGIC Robson offers a comprehensive English Language and is known for its flexible level structure and inhouse curriculum. KGIC also offers Specialized Language Enhancement programs, TOEFL and TOEIC test prep courses and FCE First Certificate from Cambridge. The campus is within walking distance of some of Vancouver's finest shops, restaurants, beaches and close to Stanley park.

Surrey Campus, Surrey B.C.

KGIC's Surrey campus is situated in Greater Vancouver's largest suburb and offers Children, Junior, and Adult English Language programs, business programs, TOEFL test prep, a Children and Youth Summer Camp, and business programs. The campus is within 5 minutes walking distance from KGIC's largest dormitory, King George Place, which houses 54 students. One problem with the children's program is that homestays for children are not required to have a criminal background check.

KGIBC is located in the Vancouver downtown core. This bright, spacious campus provides students a fully equipped computer lab and an additional Internet Cafe. KGIBC offers over 10 programs created to help future professionals prepare for a career in the global economy, and over six programs offering practicum experience with a Canadian company.

Victoria campus, Victoria B.C.
The KGIC Victoria campus is located in downtown Victoria in the famous Bastion Square, seconds away froom the Victoria Inner Harbour. KGIC Victoria offers regular English Language programs as well as a variety of test prep and business programs designed to prepare students for professional careers. Benefits of studying at KGIC Victoria include a fully equipped computer lab with free internet access, and 50 KGIC bicycles and helmuts available for student use.

Toronto Campus, Toronto, Ontario

KGIC's Toronto campus is KGIC's second largest campus, with over 30 classrooms and 400 students. This campus, located in the bustling centre of Canada's largest city, provides a television in each classroom and a fully equipped computer lab with free internet access, and KGIC TV with a 8 channel TV lab.

Flexible English Language Program

KGIC offers a flexible level structure that allows students to focus on different skills in different classes. The general
English Language program is divided into 4 different classes: Grammar, Reading and Writing, Listening, and Communications. KGIC ESL students begin class at 9:30am and finish at 3:00pm. After Communications class, students can continue their studies with a range of after-school tutorials, electives, and conversation clubs. Students are placed in the level that suits their needs in Grammar, Reading and Writing, Listening and Communications, which allows the college to target the development of specific abilities. The KGIC English Language program is divided into three levels. Foundations is designed to give beginner students survival skills and entry to the more demanding GCE program. The GCE-General Certificate in English consists of four levels of intensive, in-depth exposure to the English language. The most challenging level at KGIC is Ace-Advanced Certificate of English as a Second Language. The ACE program allows advanced students to sharpen their English skills while studying a wide variety of topics such as current events, politics, music and film. KGIC provides standardized testing in each class once a month to monitor student progress, as well as an in-class writing tests, monthly in-class practice TOEIC tests, and comprehensive progress reports.

English Lounge

KGIC offers a range of free after-school activities. One of the most popular options is English Lounge; Students can sign-up for free conversation workshops with four other students and the teacher of their choice. These meet-ups allow the students to choose the conversation topics and guide the conversation while the teacher provides grammar and pronunciation error correction.

After School Elective Classes

After school elective classes at KGIC allow students to further their studies after their regular classes finish for the day. Students can choose a new elective every month and select from a range of classes such as Slang and Idioms, Listening to Music, Street Talk, TEOFL Prep, and Pronunciation East and West.

Student Accommodations

KGIC provides students with a range of accommodations options. The college maintains 14 student houses across Canada with Internet access, computer labs, and spacious backyards. The largest student dormitory, King George Place, houses 54 students and is within 5 minutes walking distance of the Surrey Campus. Many students opt for KGIC's Homestay Program, which provides homes for students in safe, convenient neighbourhoods. At KGIC, parents and kids can stay in the same dormitory.

Transfer to Language Enhancement, Test Prep and Career Programs

KGIC English Program students are eligible to transfer to a Specialized Program after only 1 month of English as a Second Language courses. This flexibility is designed to give students maximum control over their learning experience. The college transfers the tuition and the student makes up the difference.

Work experience opportunities

KGIC offers practicum and co-op programs with over 60 companies across Canada. Students have the opporunity to gain valuable international work experience during their stay in Canada.

University placement and transfer assistance

KGIC helps students prepare and transition to reputable Canadian universities, including the University of Alberta, University of New Brunswick, and Laurentian University.

KGIC has official accreditation with over 15 organizations committed to monitoring excellence among private English Language institutions. KGIC memberships include the Canadian Association of Private Language Schools (CAPLS), the Association of BC Teachers as an Additional Language (TEAL), and the Canadian Language Council (CLC. KGIC is also accredited with TESOL Canada accredited and an official TEOFL iBT and CAEL testing center

Published in-house curriculum

KGIC publishes and distributes its own curriculum with Pearson Longman. All KGIC curriculum is developed and tested by an in-house curriculum development team.
Specialized Programs at KGIC and KGIBC

Test Preparation and Language Enhancement Programs
FCE: First Certificate of English. This intensive 4,8 or 12 week program prepares students to write the Cambridge FCE exam.

EAP: English For Academic Purposes. EAP is a 5, 10 or 15 week program offered at the Toronto campus. It provides intensive preparation for university level studies. Students are encouraged to write the CAEL assessment test at the end. KGIC also assists students with placement in Canadian universities.

TOEIC: Test of English for International Communication. TOEIC prep is a certificate course offered in 4 and 8 week options. Students receive one-on-one feedback from their teacher as they prepare for the exam. This program is offered in Vancouver and Toronto and also features aspects of the new Toeic.

TOEFLiBT: Test of English as Foreign Language. TOEFLiBT can be taken in 4 and 8 week options and provides intensive coverage of all TOEFL iBT required skills: speaking, paraphrasing, summarizing, and note-taking. It is offered in Surrey, Vancouver, and Toronto.

BEDP: Business English Diploma Program. This is a 12 week diploma program with a practicum that helps students fine tune their Business English for a professional career. BEDP is offered in Surrey and Toronto.

GBE: Global Business English. GBE is 12 week diploma including a practicum program that combines studies in Hotel Management, Tourism and International Trade. It is offered at the Victoria campus.

EPT: English Preparation for TESOL. This 4 week certificate program introduces students to the fundamentals of classroom management, teaching methodologies, and teaching vocabulary, and prepares interested students for the demands of the more intensive TESOL and TESOL-C programs.

PMM: Powerspeaking and Modern Media. PMM is KGIC's newest 8 week language enhancement diploma program. PMM focuses on developing conversation, debate and presentation skills, and uses the role of the media in the 21st century as a topic of conversation. Students learn how to facilitate class debates and prepare role plays. Topics include music, film, television, and journalism

Career and Professional Development Programs

TESOL: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. The TESOL program at KGIC is a 12 week practicum course that focuses on classroom management and innovative activities for creating a fun, dynamic learning environment.

TESOL-C: TESOL for Children. This 12 week diploma program includes a practicum. Students learn useful games and teaching practices to make classroom learning fun for children and juniors.

TESOL-Advanced. This 12 week practicum and diploma program is accredited by TESOL Canada. Students with an undergraduate degree can apply for TESL Canada Certification upon completion of the program. TESOL-Advanced is offered at the Vancouver campus.

TESOL Integrated. An intensive 16 week practicum offered at the Victoria campus. This program provides the English Language education industry with trained, professional teachers. The curriculum combines TESOL for Adults and TESOL for Children, and is taught by experienced industry professionals. It includes a one month practicum.

ITDP: International Translation Diploma Program. ITDP is an 8 week diploma program with a practicum. It is designed for those pursuing a career in international business, and it is available in
both Korean-English and Japanese-English. The course focuses on advanced vocabulary and idioms, and provides one-on-one counselling to discuss performance and progress.

IOADP: International Office Administration Diploma Program. This 16 week diploma program includes an extended practicum and focuses on helping students develop the high level office management and software applications skills needed to survive todays fast-paced business world.

BMDP: Business Management Diploma. BMDP is a 25 week diploma program with a practicum that requires regular presentations to develop public speaking skills. BMDP offers real-life work experience with a Canadian business or organization, numerous field trips, and guest speakers. KGIC also runs an Advanced BMDP 12 month paid internship option.

HMDP: Hotel Management Diploma Program. This 36 week diploma plus practicum program is internationally recognized by the American Hotel and Lodging Association. Students enjoy guest speakers and field trips in the hospitality industry. Transfer credits towards a Bachelor or Master’s degree in the USA can be earned in HMDP. There is also an Advanced HMDP 14 month paid internship option.

KGIC Themed Summer Program
Theme 2007: Global Time Traveller
The 2007 KGIC Summer Camp takes children and juniors on an exciting journey through time in KGIC’s time machine.

KGIC Summer and Winter Fun KGIC also offers special seasonal English Programs combined with extra activities and entertainment. In July and August, activities include biking, hiking, kayaking, and river-rafting. January and February activities include skiing, snowboarding, and snow-shoeing.

TBI-Trailblazers International Outdoor Leadership Program
Juniors 13-17: July. Adults: August. TBI is a unique outdoor leadership adventure program offered only at KGIC. It caters to teenagers and adults with intermediate to advanced English skills.
Students can achieve an outdoor leadership certificate and learn
special survival skills such as First Aid, CPR, water safety, environmental impact techniques, GPS, and compass navigation combined with English training seminars and workshops. The program includes 5 day wilderness adventures and regular activities, plus extensive hiking and navigating.
