Ghaith Madadha

Beginings

Ghaith Madadha (born 1976) started his journalistic career in 2001 as a freelance reporter at The Jordan Times newspaper.

Living Well
By 2002 he became Jordan's first bona fide motoring journalist when he launched a critical road test based motoring section in the then new and first Jordanian glossy English language magazine. Ghaith's professional, critical and sometimes sarcastic style went hand in hand with the magazine's Grumpy Gourmet restaurant critic pages.

JO Magazine
By the time Living Well became more of a women's rather than general interest magazine during late 2004, Ghaith had taken and expanded the motoring section to Jordan's second English Glossy, Jo Magazine, a more in depth and socially oriented magazine. His tenure as JO's Motoring Editor allowed him a greater level of freedom as well as the opportunity to expand his coverage.

A new niche
Ghaith had introduced the concept of the road test determined review, at a time when most automotive coverage in Jordan was a practice of uncritical and sycophantic press release journalism.

Ghaith has written for several other short-lived motoring publications in Jordan and has been featured in Dubai's Car Middle East, a specialized publication under license from Car UK.

It is widely accepted that he has pioneered the motoring journalism niche in and has in turn spurned on the advent of both imitators and opened the field for other automotive writers. Auto dealerships in Jordan have also matured and become more sophisticated in their approach to the media and in their events during the same timeline that Ghaith has been active.

The Jordan Times 2006 onwards
Ghaith Madadha is currently Motoring Editor at both Jo and Jordan's only daily English language newspaper, The Jordan Times (to which he returned as such since late 2006). He is also currently establishing an automotive news and media services agency with a pilot car show in the pipeline.

Other journalistic and media activities
Ghaith is also noted for his sex and relationships column that ran in Living Well between 2002 and 2005 as well as his left-leaning political commentry and a weekly social and political column, Mise En Scene, published in The Star newspaper of Jordan, the sole weekly English language newspaper.
