Dr. Julie Khanna is a Canadian cosmetic surgeon and author. She is an advocate for breast implants and currently practices in the Toronto area. Education Khanna studied at the University of Toronto and gained a medical degree from the University of Ottawa. She then trained in plastic surgery at McMaster University. Advocacy Khanna campaigned against Canada's moratorium on silicone breast implants, which was lifted in 2006. She has voiced concerns about the use of permanent injectable substances by non-medical practitioners such as hairdressers and believes it is too easy for someone to call themselves a cosmetic surgeon. She frequently comments on such issues in the media. Career As an intern Khanna was an active member of the Professional Association of Interns and Residents of Ontario (PAIRO.) Since 1996 Khanna has been the resident cosmetic surgeon at the Institute of Cosmetic and Laser Surgery in Oakville, Ontario. She is also an attending plastic surgeon at the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. She specialises in breast surgery but also carries out other procedures. Khanna is certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and has a Diploma from the American Board of Plastic Surgeons. Personal Life Khanna has been married to Dr. Sheetal Sapra, who is also her colleague at the Institute of Cosmetic and Laser Surgery, since 1998. Publications Khanna is a co-author, with her husband and Lynda D. Prouse, of the 2004 book Timeless Beauty.
