Sheetal Sapra

Dr. Sheetal Sapra is a Canadian dermatologist and author.
Education
Sapra studied medicine at the University of British Columbia and dermatology at the University of Ottawa and Dalhousie University.
Publications
Sapra co-wrote the 2004 book Timeless Beauty with his wife Dr. Julie Khanna and Lynda D. Prouse.
Opposition to tanning
Sapra has an interest in malignant melanoma and other skin cancers, and opposes both indoor and outdoor tanning as a major health risk. He advocates the use of sunscreen at all times when outdoors.
Career
After graduating Sapra worked as a dermatologist and became an Assistant Professor at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. In 1996, along with his wife, he opened the Institute of Cosmetic and Laser Surgery in Oakville, Ontario. Sapra is promoting the use of laser diagnostic equipment to reduce the need for biopsies in suspected skin cancer cases. He has also been involved in the development of new treatments for psoriasis, including successful trials of the autoimmune inhibitor Etanercept.
Sapra is the Director of Industry Relations for the Canadian Dermatology Association and also plays an active role in the organization; this included helping to organize their annual conference in 2012.
Personal life
Sapra has been married to Dr. Julie Khanna since 1998.
