Judy Jiao (born February 17, 1992) is a Canadian teen actress and model. She is most notable for playing Leia Chang in Degrassi: TNG. Personal life Jiao is the eldest of two children, born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Jack Jiao and Jean Zu. She began modeling at age 13 after being spotted by a modeling scout at a shopping mall. While attending a modeling convention called MAG CANADA, Jiao was spotted by an acting agent who encouraged her to enroll in acting classes with Dean Armstrong. After those classes were completed, Jiao spent the next two years auditioning for acting roles before landing the role of Leia on Degrassi: The Next Generation, her first acting role . Jiao is fluent in English, French and Mandarin, and enjoys playing the piano in her spare time . She lives in Toronto with her parents and brother, Kirk.
