Rassool Auckbaraullee parents are from the Island of Mauritius. Parents are Al - Hajj Mahmad Auckbaraullee (born April 22 1938 in Port Louis - Mauritius) and Al - Hajj Swahaat Abdool Rahim (born February 22 1952 in Port Louis - Mauritius). Mother is of Indian and French decent. Father’s ancestors are from Calcutta, India. Rassool Auckbaraullee was named after his uncle who died some months before he was born. Keeping with tradition, Rassool’s father Mahmad, wanted to keep the name Rassool in the family as Rassool’s grand father did when his father’s brother passed away in Mauritius. Thus making Rassool the 3rd in the family named Rassool. Muslims feel the name Rassool should not be used as a first name by itself, due to the meaning. Rassool in Arabic simply means messenger, and not messenger of God, as some get confused.
Rassool’s parents moved to Toronto, Canada - in February 1975 like many South Asian’s at the time, looking for a better future for themselves and there children. Rassool’s father has always been known to stating to new comers to Canada "We came here by chance, and we will have to leave by Force". Implying that coming to Canada (a Christian country) aided and guided people from all over the world, unbiously, to come, for a better future for all, and in the end will die in Canada. Rassool’s father first big purchase after migrating to Canada was to purchase his tomb for his wife and himself. After 5 years bought his first house for his family. Rassool is the youngest of three children. Brother Sameer Auckbaraullee (born June 24 1975 in Toronto - Canada) and the eldest Parveen Auckbaraullee Jhirad (born March 14, 1971 in Port Louis - Mauritius).
Rassool Auckbaraullee is also the youngest of all first generation cousins in his family of 200+, that all came from one Grand father and one Grand mother. Rassool’s Grand father was born in the 1880's. A century later his last grandchild Rassool was born.
Rassool got his motivation to write after September 11th 2001, in the wake of stereotypes toward all Muslims. While all muslims were on edge after that day, but while living in France in 2003 with a population of 10 million Muslims and over 1400 hundred mosques. Then finally the backlash begun. First watching President George W. Bush on FOX news in France say that justifying his invasion in Iraq is a "Crusade", and in French News, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark stating "We have to put a stop to Islam". Shortly after the famous Danish Cartoon which the Queen Supported. Rassool finally witnessed the injustice of muslims in France. He was a ESL Teacher at a Private High School (L’Ecole St Louis St Clement of Viry Chatillon-France) witnessing the new law first hand that abolished all muslim girls and women to not be allowed to wear the head scarf (hijab) in school or at work. When he realized that the law was specific to only Muslims and not including Christian nuns, this made the frustration and disbelief grow much stronger. Living in France Rassool saw first hand, the open in your face racism toward the Arabs and Africans, and the unbelievable limited freedom Arabs had living in France. Even if you were born in France, Arabs were not to receive french citizenship.
In taking a challenge. He took the duty of all Muslims; he did the da’wah (making an invitation towards Islam). He did what few Muslims would do in the invitation to Islam, he went to the Prisons of Canada. Rassool hit the Prisons of Kingston, Ontario Canada in the summer of 2004. There he spoke to all walks of all types of prisoners from serving two years to life. Talking and discussing to non-Muslims giving da’wah into the prison system of Kingston - Ontario, of whom he was schooled and taught by Muslim Cleric Ibrahim Downey of Nova Scotia - Canada. Three years later of writing a screenplay about Islam, hoping he could make an independent film, his wife Ethyl Tigley made him realize the Power of the Pen.
Rassool Auckbaraullee wanted to make a bridge for the West, and realized those who will be ignorant will be ignorant. But for those who seek, will read. So Rassool has written to those and to read and become a critic themselves but to also recognize what Islam really teaches, and to keep in mind what The Bible dictates and what has been changed/altered throughout there (Jews/Christian) own history.
Rassool is tri-lingual speaking English, French and Creole. Rassool suffers a rare skin disorder called Vitiligo which his skin stops producing its natural colour. There is no reason or cure for there are only a few million in the world who have Vitiligo. Same disorder that Michael Jackson suffered with his hand and wore a flashy glove to hide it in the early 1980's, but later bleached his skin to match the Vitiligo.
Rassool Auckbaraullee was married September 1st 2007 to Ethyl Natividad Tigley a Catholic-Philippino (born November 15 1975 in Toronto - Canada) and is a step-father to Athena Faith Tigley (born December 13 2001, in Toronto-Canada) all reside in there home in Hamilton, Ontario - Canada.
