Shyju Mathew

EEvangelist Shyju, 24, is the founder of Shyju Mathew Ministries. His heart to serve God completely was given expression when he first received the opportunity to preach at the age of 7. From then on, he continued to reach out to many within the country. By the time he turned 17, he had written his first book and also began traveling internationally to minister to people from different places. The ministry has ever since touched and been a witness to thousands of people across India, other parts of Asia, Middle East and North America.
He has also worked as a Chaplain(Campus Pastor) for 3 years at the Kodaikanal Christian College and was studying at the same time. He is a word-inspired gifted speaker; widely regarded as a prophet of the revival age and possesses a unique gift to stir up the hearts of people with a new love for God. God has been and is faithful to make His presence and mighty power known at all these gatherings, showing forth the healing power of the cross.

A young and dynamic evangelist, Shyju Mathew was born on 17th January 1986, in a small town called Pathnamthitta. Few months from his birth, his family shifted to Bangalore a city popularly known as India’s information technology hub, where he completed his schooling & where he currently lives with his parents and sister. He did his graduation from Kodaikanal Christian College, Kodaikanal during which he was also appointed as the Chaplain (Spiritual head) of the College.
At a very early age, Shyju developed an intense hunger for the Lord. His passion grew as a result of many influences, of which the strongest was his prayerful mother. Her desire to see her son used by God in a mighty way, made her encourage him to spend an hour everyday in prayer.
So when children his age would be outside playing, young Shyju spent his time at home worshipping and seeking God’s face in solitude. Even before he was 7 years old, Shyju began to see the mysteries of the Kingdom unfold through visions. It was also at this time that Shyju began to prophesy. Thus his awe inspiring passion for God was evident right from his early childhood days.
At that tender age of 7, Shyju was sarcastically asked to preach at a small meeting, when the appointed pastor for the day failed to show up. Without blinking an eyelid Shyju accepted the challenge (not realizing that this was not a serious invitation) This was the humble beginning of Shyju’s powerful ministry, which has since then touched and healed thousands of people in Asia and beyond.
Shyju’s very first meeting outside Bangalore was in Kerala, when he was all of 11 years old. The pastor who took him there had to return early, but as a sign of divine appointment, subsequent meetings continued to be arranged in Kerala for an entire month. Preaching at these meetings in Kerala alone was a great experience blessing and encouragement for Shyju to move deeper into ministry. God honored these meetings with great signs and wonders. And the only reason Shyju had to cut short this ministry trip was that he ran out of time & had to return to Bangalore since his school vacations were over. When children his age were holidaying with their parents during the summer break, eleven year old Shyju was traveling and ministering alone to hundreds at Kerala.
After this, new avenues opened up for ministry, confirming God’s will to raise this young prophet and evangelist in India for His glory. Consecutively the burden to lead the lost to Christ increased in him. Shyju preached for the first time in an open air mass crusade at the tender age of twelve. When he was 17, Shyju had already traveled and ministered at conferences in five different nations. These meetings which started in Dubai, U.A.E were supposed to finish in a month’s time but were extended to three months, as many were set free by the power of God. Subsequently, Shyju received invitations to visit other nations like Bahrain and Qatar. Meetings in Bahrain were similarly extended from two to three weeks by the divine plan of God. Special conferences in Qatar were also arranged, called “Open Heavens”, which were again extended from one to two weeks. These meetings embarked an array of international crusades which continue to bless thousands.
Evangelist Shyju Mathew is also the author of a book called, “Why God established David.” which he wrote when he was merely 17.
God has used many to build, motivate and mentor this young evangelist. Shyju is accountable to many Godly men of God that God has brought into his life. Shyju cherishes his closest source of inspiration - his prayerful and loving mother, Mrs. Kunjumol Achankunju - whose grace, patience, devotion and tirelessness infused a dynamic change in his life.
Shyju is now married to Tiny Mathew and continues to demonstrate God’s mighty Word through the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit in his crusades and conferences. He was honored by the "Christian Association of Ministries and Pastors", Canada, as Reverend. They continue to travel as a family to where God sends them with a sole desire to lift the name of Jesus.
In the beginning of 2008, the Lord spoke to Shyju and birthed in him a desire to build next generation leaders across the globe. With that started a new ministry called the TENT OF MEETING. TOM as it is called in short is a “time-out” with God, away from the cares and complexities of the world. Derived from the Tent of Meeting experience that Moses had with God, Shyju believes that God wants to have a special time of soaking and infilling set apart to equip the next generation leaders. Leaders from all kinds of ministry attended the first TOM that was held in Bangalore in the month of December of 2008. Evangelists, Worship leaders, Pastors, Authors- all coming with the common purpose to soak in God’s presence and to go back filled and re-charged for the kingdom.

Seeing a 24 year old carrying such a marvelous presence of the Lord has given birth to a new desire in the hearts of the complacent, and re-energized the lives of those who have become lukewarm in their Christian walk.
