J. Devn Cornish

John Devn Cornish (born April 12, 1951) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 2011. He is a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy.
Cornish was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to George O. Cornish and Naomi Black. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and a medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. He spent his professional life as a medical doctor, specializing in newborn intensive care.
Cornish served as a major in the United States Air Force. He married Elaine Simmons in the Manti Utah Temple in 1973. They are the parents of six children.
Cornish was a full-time missionary for the LDS Church in the Guatemala-El Salvador Mission. He has served as an elders quorum president, ward Young Men president, bishop, high priests group leader, stake president, president of the Dominican Republic Santiago Mission (2003-06), and area seventy.
On April 2, 2011, Cornish was sustained by church members as a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy. Since August 2011, Cornish has been a member of the presidency of the church's Caribbean Area. He became the area's president in August 2014.
