Georgethan

Early Years

Georgethan was formed in 2001. Georgethan's First album, The Georgethan Soundtrack, was recorded when Josh Willis was only 12 years old. It was originally released in 2001, but Georgethan released a remastered version in 2002. The name started when Josh (Georgethan) was in fourth grade when the class was required to write a story about anything. Josh states that "i guess that the name just came out of a mix of george and jonathan, and it just kept evolving." His follow up album, The Georgethan Soundtrack Volume 2 had a positive rating by many listeners. Shorty after the release Georgethan was back in the studio for a 3rd volume.

Mainstream Success

Apples to Apples, which is to be released on 23 October 2007, strayed from the usual Georgethan genre, and abandoned the recognizable singing of Georgethan. Although he does still sing in the usual Georgethan voice at times, his new approach, an M. Shadows imitation, he says it will always change. He says he has been working on screaming, but will not use that style as main vocals, because it is abnoxious. "my voice is always going to sound different, thats just the Georgethan voice. As far as screaming, yes, i am learning how, however i will never use it as main vocals, it is rediculous," says Josh. in Critical Acclaim, he screams in the intro as backup vocals, and there are many overlapped voices throught the soundtrack.

Recent Events

In 2006, Georgethan completed a worldwide tour, including the U.S., Europe, and eastern Asia. After cancelling the rest of the Young Entrepreneur Tour, he announced that he was planning his 3rd studio album, Apples to Apples, scheduled for October 23, 2007. Georgethan stated that there will never be a Young Entrepreneur Part 2, or Georgethan Soundtrack Part 2, but he says it will attract fans of both original albums while still being a surprise.
"Critical Acclaim", along with the announcement that it would be released via Limewire as the first single on September. The song was also put up in full to be streamed on his MySpace, as well. The music video for the first single off the new album, "Almost Easy", was added to thewas added to the Kerrang TV playlist in the UK on the 16 October.

To "tide fans over" until the release of the new album, Apples to Apples, released his first DVD, All Excess, on 12 September 2007. The DVD includes a documentary and live footage dating back to 2001 along with music videos and the making of the Home Alone music video. It is a region-free DVD and is approximately 156 minutes long. Before the actual release of the DVD, there were several theatrical premiers around the United States on 11 September 2007.

Band Name and Lyrical Content

The Name "Georgethan" was invented by Josh, as stated above, it is a mix of George, and Jonathan. Josh says that the songs have absolutley no meaning whatsoever, and he just comes up with the names off the top of his head. "You know, the song "Mornin' Subble" actually came from when i was sitting there thinking about ideas for volume 3, and i saw a picture of a guy with a beard, and it just came into place, the song." he also writes about random things to not get anybody mad about anything that could happen. "I just, the music's there to entertain and maybe thought-provoking on both sides, but I don't try to, like, really shove anything down anyone's throat. There's too many bands that do that nowadays, I think. In his new song, Critical Acclaim, he took the gambit of making the lyrics somewhat political.
