Masked Reaper

Daniel Walsh, better known by his stage name Masked Reaper, is a UK horrorcore rapper who is known for his exceptionally violent lyrics. He is also lead singer of the less-successful UK nu metal band No Remorse. He has released five studio albums and numerous singles. A sixth studio album is in the works. His musical style has been described as being similar to rappers such as Necro and Esham.
History
Daniel Walsh was born in an abusive UK home in the early eighties. His mother was abused by his father, who eventually left the home at an early age. Walsh developed an alternate personality due to trauma caused by his father, and was forced to go through psychotherapy for several years. He began to vent his repressed anger by writing and performing violent rap songs, a practice that he still continues.
He intended to stop rapping after his 2009 album, "All or Nothing", but due to an outcry of fans began work on a fifth studio album. As of early February 2010, three singles from the album has been released, and according to the rapper himself, most of the album has been written, but not all of it has been recorded.
Lyrical Style and Influences
Many, if not most, of Masked Reaper's songs are about murder, and usually include lyrics about rape, necrophilia, and/or cannibalism. However, he has stated that he does not support such practices in real life, even telling would-be violent fans to "keep it in the song." Instead, he views the lyrical content as a way for him and his fans to vent their anger in a positive way. Other lyrical topics have included suicide, disaffection, and Satanism, and he often raps about his abusive father and his stepmother.
Masked Reaper has cited several artists as important to his musical style, including Slipknot, Eminem, Necro, Cradle of Filth, and Korn.

No Remorse
No Remorse is a UK nu metal band headed by Masked Reaper and his brother. The band was formed in the early 2000s, but was on a hiatus until late 2009, when two singles were recorded and released online. No Remorse has received generally unfavourable reviews, although this is generally due to the poor sound quality of the songs and the nu metal sound (versus Masked Reaper's usual horrorcore rap style), and not due to the band's instrumentals and vocals.
Controversy
In December 2008 and January 2009, Masked Reaper gained a small cult following in the United States among high school teens residing in some states (particularly Colorado), and the graphic nature of the rapper's lyrics were put under scrutiny by some high schools and conservative parents of high schoolers. One song, "The Funeral Song", was the original cause of the controversy due to its lyrics involving sexual violence and necrophilia. The controversy quickly died down, however.
Reception
Masked Reaper has received generally favourable reviews among underground horrorcore fans and Juggalos, but has enjoyed little popularity among mainstream critics, especially in the United States.
