Friendly Savages

Friendly Savages are an indie folk rock group from Austin, Texas. The band is made up of vocalist and guitarist John McDonald, pianist and violinist Scott Krenitski, banjoist and accordionist Malcolm White, and vocalist, guitarist, and mandolinist Josh Coulter.
History
Friendly Savages was formed in October of 2011 by members John McDonald, Scott Krenitski, Malcolm White, and Josh Coulter. The members came from varying musical backgrounds and genres - McDonald and Coulter coming from the pop/singer-songwriter arena, with Krenitski and White from a decidedly more folk/bluegrass/jazz influence. After a short 3 months, the band released a 4 song EP they recorded in a local church with friend and sound engineer, Brian Granaghan. Quickly writing more songs, and playing live shows around Austin and San Antonio, Friendly Savages began developing a reputation for themselves in Austin as a live band to watch.
In March of 2012, Friendly Savages appeared on the lineup for Vanderbilt University's "Rites of Spring" Music Festival, the largest college music festival in the country. Other notable performers for the festival include Mutemath, Wiz Khalifa, Sleigh Bells, Gloriana, Tyler Hilton, and Fitz and the Tantrums.
The group is rumored to be recording an album in Austin in November of 2012, making a potential album release around May of 2013.
