Dustin Thomas Kahia (born June 12, 1989) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his second short film, , which premiered at the Newport Beach Film Festival and won the Audience Award at NFFTY in 2012. Kahia is the co-founder of Immaculata Pictures. Early Life Kahia was born in San Diego, California on June 12, 1989. As a child, Kahia had aspirations of becoming an actor. Throughout his high school years, Kahia made several experimental short films using his father's video camera. Bryan Thompson of Cinema Beach echoed, "His film is wonderfully shot and beautifully acted." That same year, at age 22, he won "The Human Experience" Audience Award at National Film Festival for Talented Youth. The competition was fierce that year. The Tennessean wrote, "The competition attracted more than 1,500 entries from all over the world." Project Guile was also named a finalist in the 2014 Scriptapalooza Screenwriting Competition, making the Top 100 out 3,154 submissions that year. In 2014, Kahia met Patrick Coffin and together they co-founded Immaculata Pictures with the idea of reintroducing classic storytelling with modern techniques. "The name and the legal status as a company really came from Dustin, who had been working for some time to set up a production platform from which to start making movies...When I met Dustin, not only was the synergy and sympatico there, but so was the timing," Coffin stated in an interview. The status of the film is currently post-production with a release set for June of 2015. The film's cast includes Mojean Aria, Ashley Clements, JT Alexander, and James Morrison.
