Donegal Tuesday is an unofficial student event observed in Galway city. It originated in the 2010's, with NUIG and GMIT students, during unofficial rag week, wearing Donegal GAA sports jerseys, skipping lectures and going drinking - principally in The Hole in the Wall pub in the city. Beginning as an event aimed at students from County Donegal, "to celebrate Daniel O'Donnell, Football Special, Jim McGuinness and all things from the hills", the event has grown to involve all-comers, and achieved cult status. An article on Today FM's website in 2018 described the event as "the biggest day of the year" for students in Galway.
