Darcy White

Darcy White (born March 1979) is a Canadian artist working in the city of Toronto. With an interest in multiple media, White works within a 2-dimensional feel of 3-dimensional matter, as well as time based media.
Biography
Darcy White was born in Mississauga, ON just outside of Toronto and attended Ryerson University. His work Big Top was shown at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga in January 2003. Critic Doug Buis hailed the piece as “a masterpiece in the methods of abstract realism—seen so frequently in this new wave of video art—while simultaneously maintaining the antithetically quixotic overtones of a young artist struggling to find a place among the anesthetized masses.” In the same article, White says of the inspiration for the piece, "Although I am not a painter, I think that the subaqueous qualities of the purity of line makes resonant the distinctive formal juxtapositions inherent in the canvas of the soul." White exhibited at Video Pool Media Arts Centre in Winnipeg in 2007.
Works
White's works are mainly comprised of multimedia video collages.
