Chandler Hoffman

Jon Chandler Hoffman (born August 17, 1990 in Birmingham, Alabama) is an American soccer player currently signed to Major League Soccer as a Generation Adidas player.
Career
College and Amateur
Chandler Hoffman grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and attended Oak Mountain High School. He had a stellar high school career being named an NSCAA/adidas High School All-American (2008,2009), ESPN Rise All-American (2008,2009) and NSCAA Alabama Player of the Year (2008,2009). Hoffman was also named the Gatorade State Player of the Year for Alabama in 2008 and 2009. Hoffman also played two seasons in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy for Birmingham United Soccer Association.
Hoffman became the first player from the state of Alabama to play soccer for the UCLA Bruins. Hoffman appeared as a forward for the UCLA Bruins, and was a standout player during his freshman year in 2009, ranking second on the squad and seventh in the Pac-10 Conference (now the Pac-12 Conference) in goals. Hoffman started 15 games for the Bruins in his freshman year, scoring five goals and adding two assists. In addition to being the leading freshman goal scorer in the Pac-10 Conference, he helped the Bruins win the Pac-10 regular season crown and advance to the Wake Forest, North Carolina Regional Game in the 2009 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship.
Hoffman fractured his left fibula on the first day of pre-season his sophomore year (2010). He worked hard to get back on the field and played in the Bruins last eleven games, starting the last six. Hoffman scored six goals in the last six games, and had either a goal or an assist in each of the last six games helping the Bruins get to the Louisville, Kentucky Regional Game in the 2010 NCAA Men's Division I Soccer Tournament. Hoffman ranked first in the Pac-10 in goals per game (0.55 average - six goals in 11 games) and second in points per game (1.18 average).
During Hoffman's junior campaign, he scored eighteen goals and tallied six assists helping lead UCLA to an undefeated PAC-12 championship and to the semifinals of the 2011 NCAA College Cup. UCLA lost a heartbreaker to eventual champion North Carolina in PKs, after tying in regulation 2-2. Hoffman had the assist on both UCLA goals and was named to the NCAA All Tournament Team. The College Cup was a homecoming for Hoffman as it was played in Hoover, Alabama just miles from where he grew up.
Hoffman started in each of UCLA’s 24 games his junior year. Hoffman led the Bruins and the Pac-12 in goals (18, ranked fourth nationally), goals per game (0.75, 13th nationally), points (42, fourth nationally), points per game (1.75, 12th nationally) and game-winning goals (five). During the year he received numerous accolades and tied some UCLA all-time records:
• Tied the UCLA school record for consecutive games with at least one goal - 5 (Hoffman did this twice during his career)
• Tied the UCLA school record for multiple goal games in a season - 4
• 18 goals in a season - most by a UCLA player since Joe Max Moore had 18 in 1991
• 42 points in a season - most by a UCLA player since Seth George had 42 in 1997
Professional
After his stellar junior season at UCLA, Hoffman was offered a Generation Adidas contract by Major League Soccer which he accepted. He will be attending the MLS Player Combine, January 6-10, 2012 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He will then head to Kansas City, Missouri for the 2012 MLS SuperDraft where he will become the first player from Alabama ever selected in the MLS SuperDraft.
