Liam Ogle

Liam Ogle (born May 4, 1986 in Ashington, Northumberland) is an English footballer who currently plays for Florida Atlantic University. Ogle is a central/attacking Midfielder.

Club Career

Ogle started his career at Cramlington Juniors with Newcastle United footballer Steven Taylor at the age of just 6 playing for the Under 9's. At age 7 (1993), Ogle joined his local youth academy (school of excellence) Newcastle United FC, and moved through the youth system. He was coached by John Carver, who is now coach of MLS team Toronto FC. At his time at Newcastle he often played for ages above his own with players like Michael Chopra and Foluwashola 'Shola' Ameobi. He was released in 2001. He then went on to play for his hometown team Blyth Town Juniors. At the age of 15 he moved up to the Men's team in the Wade Associates Northern Alliance league. Ogle quickly established himself as a first team player. At that time they were in the second division. In his second year he helped them to promotion to the premier division. He made tremendous progress and won various awards giving by his team. From the age of 10 to 18 he represented his county of Northumberland. In 2005, aged 19 he was offered a full athletic scholarship at Cayuga Community College (new York) in the United States of America, which he accepted.

College Career

Freshman year (2005): Ogle Logged 51 points (19 Goals, 13 Assists) in first season at Cayuga Community College, Tied for sixth in the nation for NJCAA scoring. He earned first team all-conference and first team all-region honors

Sophomore (2006): Ogle Played second season for Godwin Iwelumo at Cayuga Community College, totaling 46 points (18 Goals, 10 Assists). He was team leader in points, tied for eighth in the nation for NJCAA scoring. He was named NJCAA All-American, NSCAA All-American,Mid-State Athletic Conference Player of the Year,first team all-conference selection and first team all-region.

In 2007 he then signed a national letter of intent to play for Florida Atlantic university a Division 1 school in Boca Raton, Florida.

In his Junior year and first year at Florida Atlantic (FAU) he played and started in every game. He led the team in points (6 Goals and 4 assists). He was named ASC player of the week on 22nd October 2007. He was also awarded Most Valuable player by his team mates. Helping his team to Atlantic Sun conference championship. The first in the university's history. FAU's spring 2008 season saw Ogle starting in games against two Major League Soccer (MLS) teams and three international clubs, scoring against St Kitts National team in a 3-0 victory on February 4th 2008. The year ended on a sour note as he underwent surgery in May 2008 on a persistent sports Hernia problem.
