2012 Cowboys Classic

The 2012 Cowboys Classic is the 4th edition of this event and featured the Michigan Wolverines of the Big Ten Conference and the Alabama Crimson Tide of the SEC and was played on September 1, 2012 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This became official when on October 14, 2010, officials from both the University of Michigan and the University of Alabama announced that Michigan and Alabama would play each other in the 2012 Cowboys Classic to open the 2012 season. This game was a rematch of the 2000 Orange Bowl where Michigan beat Alabama 35-34 after Alabama missed the tying extra point. This is the 1st time that Michigan and Alabama played each other in the regular season.
Game Summary
Michigan forced a three-and-out on Alabama's 1st possession and then, Michigan was able to get a 1st down on their next possession and nothing more as they were forced to punt. Alabama was able to get something going on their next possession as AJ McCarron had a 2-yd touchdown pass to Michael Williams to give Alabama a 7-0 lead. Alabama forced a three-and-out on Michigan's next possession and then, AJ McCarron had a 51-yd touchdown pass to DeAndrew White to give the Tide a 14-0 lead. Denard Robinson would throw an interception on Michigan's next possession and Dee Milliner would return it for 35 yards to the Michigan 17 yard line. Alabama would take advantage of that interception as Eddie Lacy would have a 9-yard touchdown run to give Alabama a 21-0 lead. The 1st Quarter would conclude with Alabama ahead 21-0.
Michigan would be forced to punt on their 1st possession of the 2nd Quarter as the Tide would keep rolling with a 22-yd field goal by Jeremy Shelley to give the Tide a 24-0 lead. Both teams would force a three-and-out on each other's next possessions and then, Denard Robinson would throw another interception which would be returned by C.J. Mosley for 16 yards for a pick six which would put the Tide ahead 31-0. Michigan would finally get something going on their next possession as Denard Robinson would have a 6-yard touchdown run to cut the Tide lead to 31-7. Alabama would have a 31-7 lead at halftime.
Michigan was forced to punt on their 1st possession of the 2nd half and then, Alabama would get nothing off of their next possession as Cade Foster would miss a 52-yd Field Goal. Michigan would be forced to punt on their next possession and then, Cade Foster would make a 51-yd Field Goal to give Alabama a 34-7 lead. Michigan would get something off of their next possession as Denard Robinson would have a 44-yd touchdown pass to Devin Gardner to cut the Tide lead to 34-14. Alabama would have a 34-14 lead after the 3rd Quarter.
After both teams were forced to punt on their 1st possession of the 4th Quarter, T. J. Yeldon would have a 1-yd touchdown run to give Alabama a 41-14 lead. After both teams were forced to punt on their next possession, Russell Bellomy threw and interception which would be intercepted by Dillon Lee and Alabama would win the game 41-14.
