2011 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game

The 2011 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, the fourth edition of the game, featured Boise State, of the Mountain West Conference, and Georgia, of the SEC, on September 3, 2011. The game took place in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia Dome. Boise State won the game 35-21 for the school's first ever win against a team from the SEC.
Game Summary
The defenses seemed to dominate the 1st five minutes of the game as neither team was able to get a 1st down on their 1st two possessions. But soon after, Georgia was able to explode with a 80-yd touchdown run from Brandon Boykin as Georgia was able to take a 7-0 lead. Both teams were forced to punt on their next possession and then, Kellen Moore had a 17-yd touchdown pass to Matt Miller to even things up at 7-7. The 1st quarter would end with the game tied at 7-7.
The defenses would continue to dominate as no team was able to score for the 1st ten minutes of the 2nd quarter. Kellen Moore had a 12-yd touchdown pass to Kyle Efaw with less than one minute remaining in the 1st half to give Boise State a 14-7 lead at halftime.
Boise State would get off to a successful 3rd quarter start with a Doug Martin 7-yd touchdown run to give Boise State a 21-7 lead. Georgia would manage to get the ball to the Boise State 28 yard line on their next possession but Blair Walsh would miss a 54-yd Field Goal. Both teams forced a three-and-out on each other's next possessions and then, Kellen Moore had a 3-yd touchdown pass to Tyler Shoemaker to give Boise State a 28-7 lead. Georgia would finally get something going on their next possession with a Aaron Murray 36-yd touchdown pass to Orson Charles to cut the Boise State lead to 28-14. The 3rd Quarter would end with Boise State ahead 28-14.
Boise State would get off to a strong start in the 4th quarter with a D.J. Harper 1-yd touchdown run to give Boise State a 35-14 lead. Georgia would strike back instantly with a Aaron Murray 51-yd touchdown pass to Malcolm Mitchell to cut the Boise State lead to 35-21. Boise State would manage to get the ball to the Georgia 42-yd line on their next possession and would punt it from there. Georgia would get the ball all the way to the Boise State 39-yd line on their next possession and would turn the ball over on downs when Aaron Murray threw an incomplete pass. Georgia would force a three-and-out on Boise State;s next possession. Byron Douglas would sack Aaron Murray on 4th and 12 from their own 7 yard line and Boise State would win the game 35-21 for Boise State's 1st ever win against a SEC team.
