John Ealy Ogbonna, mononymously known as VEXAIL, (23 June 2010) is an American singer and songwriter. His musical style is characterised by a fusion of R&B, Afrobeat, and Amapiano. He gained recognition after the release of his 2026 single "Not ready", which garnered thousands of streams on Spotify, gaining traction from United States, France, Germany, Netherlands, and United Kingdom.

Born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, Vexail got a deal with Vydia/Gamma in 2025, followed up by his debut Hiphop single Bliss.

Early life and education

John Ealy Ogbonna was born in Norfolk, Virginia United States. The son of Fred and Florence Ogbonna he is Coloured and has Indian, Zulu, and Igbo ancestry. He grew up halfway in Lagos, Nigeria, and graduated from Lake Taylor Middle School in 2024. During his sophomore year of high school, Vexail began pursuing a music career, sharing original songs and Choreography on Instagram while actively seeking opportunities in the music industry. He had managed everything during that year without a manager, he spent most of his time writing songs.

Career

In 2026 after getting a deal with Vydia, VEXAIL released his debut single, "Bliss" which was categorized as a Hiphop track, it received domestic traction.

Prior to his debut he showed interest towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering, after much persuasion and disagreement with his parents he went ahead then signed a recording contract with Gamma through a joint venture with Raww media in the United States in December 2025. He followed up his debut single with the single "Better days" in February 2026.

Breakthrough with "Not Ready"

Following the release of his single "Wickedest" that featured dancehall artists Spice, and DJ MAC. He released the song "Not ready" in March 2026, the single featured Dancehall artists Konshens, Busy Signal, and Skilibeng, Not ready was received with critical acclaim, garnering thousands of streams within days of release.
