The Chief Negotiator for Montenegro’s Accession to EU is appointed and dismissed by the Government of Montenegro. As of 26 December 2011 this position is held by Aleksandar Andrija Pejović.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Chief negotiator for Montenegro's Accession to Eu is in charge of direct negotiation process between Montenegro and the EU, about all chapters of the European Union legislation, and represents Montenegro at the Intergovernmental Conference at the Chief Negotiators' level. Chief Negotiator is, according to his position head of Montenegrin Negotiating group and governs its work.

Other Duties

The Chief Negotiator also performs duties at an ambassadorial level in the Mission of Montenegro to the European Union. The Chief Negotiator also exercises his competences in the Mission of Montenegro to the European Union and in the Montenegrin Government.
