Suren Aghajanyan

Suren Aghajanyan (; born 1 August 2003) is an Armenian Greco-Roman wrestler. Competing in the 60 kg weight class, Aghajanyan won the silver medal at the 2026 European Wrestling Championships.

Career

Aghajanyan won the gold medal in the men's Greco-Roman 60 kg event at the 2022 European U20 Wrestling Championships. During the tournament, he defeated Latvia's Kaspars Bondarenko 10–0, Greece's Ilias Jason Ayhan 9–0 and Azerbaijan's Nihat Mammadli 9–1 by technical superiority in the semi-finals. In the final, he defeated Georgia's Dimitri Khachidze 4–0 to become European junior champion.

At the 2022 U20 World Wrestling Championships held in Sofia, Bulgaria, he won the silver medal in the 60 kg event. In the final, he lost to Iran's Saeid Esmaeili Leivesi on last-point criteria after the bout ended 6–6. In 2023, Aghajanyan won the silver medal in the 60 kg event at the 2023 European Juniors Wrestling Championships. The same year, at the 2023 World Junior Wrestling Championships held in Amman, Jordan, he defeated India's Sumit 13–4 by technical superiority in the final to become world junior champion.

At the 2024 World Military Wrestling Championships held in Yerevan, Aghajanyan won the gold medal in the Greco-Roman 60 kg event. He had reached the final after defeating his Kazakh opponent 8–0 by technical superiority in the semi-finals.

At the 2026 European U23 Wrestling Championships held in Zrenjanin, Serbia, Aghajanyan won the gold medal in the men's Greco-Roman 60 kg event. He defeated France's Ilian Ainaoui 9–0 by technical superiority, Poland's Olivier Tomasz Skrzypczak by fall and Denmark's Brian Kurt Santiago 9–1 by technical superiority in the semi-finals. In the final, he defeated Georgia's Giorgi Kochalidze 9–0 by technical superiority to become European U23 champion. At the 2026 European Wrestling Championships held in Tirana, Albania, Aghajanyan won the silver medal in the men's Greco-Roman 60 kg event. In the semi-finals, he defeated Azerbaijan's Nihat Mammadli by fall while leading 8–1 to reach the final. In the final, he drew 2–2 with Georgii Tibilov, who represented Serbia, but lost on criteria and finished as European runner-up.
