Corneliu Rusu (wrestler)
Corneliu Rusu (born 2001) is a Moldovan Greco-Roman wrestler. Competing in the 60 kg weight class, Rusu won the bronze medal at the 2026 European Wrestling Championships.
Career
Rusu won the bronze medal in the Greco-Roman 63 kg event at the 2021 European Juniors Wrestling Championships. At the 2022 European U23 Wrestling Championships, he finished fifth in the 63 kg event. He lost 3–1 to Turkey's Mustafa Safa Yıldırım in the quarter-finals. In the repechage, he defeated Lithuania's Jonas Rudzinskas 10–0 by technical superiority, before losing to Armenia's Tigran Minasyan in the bronze-medal match. In 2025, he finished seventh in the 63 kg event at the Zagreb Open.
At the 2026 European Wrestling Championships held in Tirana, Albania, Rusu won the bronze medal in the men's Greco-Roman 60 kg event. He defeated Albania's Bajram Sina 10–1 in the round of 16. In the quarter-finals, he drew 1–1 with Turkey's Mert İlbars and advanced to the semi-finals by last-point advantage. He lost 7–1 to Georgii Tibilov, who represented Serbia, in the semi-finals. In the bronze-medal match, Rusu defeated Romania's Denis Mihai 6–5 to finish third.
