Rafael Soriano López
Rafael Soriano López was born in Matanzas, Cuba, in November 23, 1920. Since 1962 he resides in Miami, Florida. He develops the Painting, Drawing, Sculpture. Between 1936-1942 he studied Painting, Drawing and Sculpture, in the Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes ''San Alejandro'', in Havana, Cuba.
Individual Exhibitions
During his life he made many personal exhibitions. In 1947 he exhibited Rafael Soriano, in the Lyceum, in Havana. In 1955 he presented Exposición Rafael Soriano. Pinturas, in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana. In 1985 he made Rafael Soriano. Dessins, Creyon et Pastel, in the Centre Culturel Editart, Geneva, Switzerland. And in 1992 he presented Rafael Soriano. La Luz como Expresión, in the Gary Nader Fine Arts, in Miami, Florida.
Collective Exhibitions
He was part in many collective exhibitions. In 1951 he participated in the 1a. Bienal Hispanoamericana de Arte. Madrid 1951, in the Instituto de Cultura Hispánica, Madrid, Spain. In 1958 he was included in the I Bienal Interamericana de Pintura y Grabado, in the Museo Nacional de Artes Plásticas, Mexico City, Mexico. In 1981 he was one of the selected artists to participated in the 18th, 19th and 20th Century Latin American Paintings, Drawings, Sculptures and Prints, in the Sotheby Parke Bernet, in New York City. And in 1997 some of his works were selected to conform Breaking Barriers, Selections from the Museum of Art's Permanent Contemporary Cuban Collection, in the Museum of Art, Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
